![]() The main house is laden with heavily stucco walls painted and repainted in a drab color, the stairs are extremely steep ( dangerous and circular) and creaky. No question, the nice staff makes up partially for the lack of amenities and the dreary dated and musty rooms but they can do only so much. Given they are only game in town they can afford to raise rates substantially, the view and proximity to shorelines are great, down right beautiful but it is criminal what they are charging even if you can because it indicates a different experience. A partially renovated ( only in “barn”)old historic stone house converted to a mess of different size awkward rooms in main House and renovated Motel 6 type level rooms in their “ barn”. The nightly fee would suggest a four star and it is more of a two (maybe a three) for their lovely staff. I was lucky to get the last XL hoodie at the really cool general store, otherwise we would have had to stay in the room all night. There is no mall, Target, WalMart, etc anywhere near by. I forgot to bring a jacket or sweatshirt and seeing that it was chilly and we wanted to sit by the fire at night, I needed one. The only heads up is that there is nothing in Old Compton. ![]() The beach is literally a 5 minute walk away. Super clean, quiet with a fridge and nice mounted flat screen tv with enough channels to keep me entertained. Our room was right next to check in, and the suite looks EXACTLY as it does in the pictures. She showed us to our sweet and gave us some history on the building. Check in was a breeze, with the friendliest front desk clerk I've ever met. However we received a call from the front desk 2 houtrs early letting us know our room was ready and we could check early if we were in the area. For starters, check in time was scheduled for 3pm. My girlfriend were lucky enough to stay in the king suite here this last Saturday, 5/14/22.
